âAt our schools today, we make it our mission to teach children not only academics but also life skills, because we believe these two are inextricably linked.â
Just like Ms Evelyn says, every lesson at ILTI is more than academics. Itâs also about building confidence and life skills. Hereâs a peek at what our students were up to this week:
Starters â Our Starters students had a big week of revision where they reviewed topics from food and clothes to hobbies and the beach. With lots of practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing, theyâre growing more confident and ready for their upcoming tests.
Upper PET â Our Upper PET class explored Sharing and Caring while learning conditionals. Through role plays, discussions, and writing tasks, they practised grammar and also reflected on kindness and responsibility. Find out more about their fun week in this week’s newsletter now!
“We both texted each other, secretly hoping the other would suggest we go back to sleep, but neither of us did.”
A rainy morning, an all-weather walkway, and a quiet promise to show up anyway â read on to discover the simple yet inspiring moment between our Director of Schools and her faithful PA. Hereâs a hint: thereâs a takeaway in it for everyone.
Ever heard of âcosting an arm and a legâ or âkeeping an eye outâ?
Our Upper FCE students had the chance to bring those body idioms to life with their creative short stories. Trust us, these pieces will make you smile, nod, and perhaps even draw a giggle out of you! They also prove that English can be as expressive as it is fun, so dive into their imaginative worlds in this week’s newsletter now!
âI advocate for education with the same fervour a politician advocates for voters â and Iâm not giving up any time soon.â
So, what is Ms Evelyn trying to get across in her message this week? Donât miss out!
In Week 7, our Lower CAE Advanced class delved into The Sound of Music, sparking lively discussions and thoughtful reflections on how music shapes our emotions and daily lives. The language focus was on discourse markers â handy tools that make both speech and writing sound more fluent, coherent, and natural.
Meanwhile, our Starters class revisited At the Beach Today, reinforcing key vocabulary and consolidating reading, speaking, and listening skills through engaging, interactive activities.
And of course, itâs not all work and no play. Our students also enjoyed their break time chatting, sharing snacks, and playing together, making learning days even brighter. Catch all their learning adventure in this week newsletter!
“Apart from the Polo Ground, I find that people these days are often stoic, lugubrious(2), solipsistic(3) and even bordering on supercilious(4).”
Pop quiz! Can you guess the meanings of the numbered words? See if you got them right as Ms Evelyn muses on staying positive amidst generally sombre moods.
From Lower KET students honing their listening and speaking skills through the story of Alek Brosko from Warsaw, to Upper KET students exploring special memories tied to meals, celebrations, and cultural dishes through the topic “A Meal to Remember”, there’s no room for boredom this week!
And because we believe in nurturing well-rounded students, youâll also catch our students enjoying their break time with eating, chatting, or playing together! Have fun reading them all!
âIn a world where there is so much negativity and hardship, why donât we put our differences aside and be that positive change our children need?â
Ms Evelyn shared this as a reflection on growing up in a traditional household where praise was rare â shaping her belief in the power of encouragement. At ILTI, we carry this mission forward by creating a nurturing space where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow.
This week, our Lower PET students explored the remarkable story of âTwo Stuntwomen: Amanda Foster & Dayna Grantâ, while our Lower FCE students read the inspiring story of âA Fairy Tale of New York â Tarzan of Central Parkâ. Both stories sparked meaningful conversations and boosted confidence in reading and speaking.

âWe must persevere! We canât let negativity and what others say mess with our goals; and most importantly, we need to be brave enough to try something that is totally outside our comfort zone.â
This spirit of courage and growth echoed through our lessons at ILTI this week. From exploring bold themes like adventure sports to diving into imaginative stories, our learners expanded their vocabulary, practised communication skills, and challenged themselves in meaningful ways.
Itâs been another colourful week of discovery, learning, and stepping beyond comfort zones at ILTI!
“If we were to die tomorrow, would we truly be spending our last day on Earth doing what we do today?”
A gentle reminder from Ms Evelyn that life is unpredictable and precious. Letâs choose to live meaningfully, argue less, and express more â while we still have the time.đ

“My childhood taught me that effective communication builds understanding and trust. That same philosophy guides every interaction at ILTI.”
At ILTI, communication isnât just a tool â itâs the foundation of everything we do. From daily greetings to WhatsApp updates and PTCs, we value open, meaningful dialogue with our families. And this week, that same spirit carried into our classrooms.
Our Lower FCE students explored phrasal verbs like âget upâ and âget overâ through engaging conversations and role plays, while Upper KET students uncovered the inspiring stories of Hedy Lamarr and Rosalind Franklin, sparking thoughtful discussions on innovation and recognition.
Another week of learning, connecting, and growing at ILTI!
