“I truly believe you cannot pour from an empty bottle. If you can master the small rituals of your morning, you can master the massive challenges of your day. Ultimately, my ‘over the top’ routines are not just about the mirror; they are about the standard I set for how I show up in the world.”- Dr Evelyn Chen

The Skeleton Principle: Building Success One Drop at a Time
20
Feb

“I live my life by the ‘skeleton principle’. Whatever the problem, I start with the skeleton; the fundamental root of the issue. I will never forget the time when I was ten and we had to complete a massive Cultural Fair exhibition. There was no one to help me at home and having been taught to be fiercely independent, I only had myself to rely on. Instead of worrying and stressing, I started my skeleton… adding the ‘meat’ by reflecting on the project daily. You continue this process until your skeleton becomes a ‘human’. It’s quite simple, isn’t it? “- Ms Evelyn

“Our brain is what we tell it. We must remain positive and feed our minds with only the good stuff… Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, and your words become your destiny.”

While our students are busy mastering the “Present Simple” and exploring “Worlds Apart,” our Executive Director, Ms Evelyn Chen, reminds us of the “sacred place” Chinese New Year holds in our hearts.

The Courage to Exit

“What many people don’t tell us is that it is okay to put ourselves first. We are often swallowed whole by a corporate world of high-octane stress, relentless workloads and unending meetings. If we aren’t careful, we will remain in this state of perpetual exhaustion until the day we die. Seeing the sheer peace on a colleague’s face after resigning made me realise that ‘walking away’ isn’t an act of giving up or a sign of weakness. Instead, it is perhaps the ultimate act of self-preservation.”- Ms Evelyn

“This is our beautiful Malaysian idiosyncrasy: we don’t just meet; we makan. Food is everywhere and despite the health statistics, it is a point of immense national pride. We don’t just eat to live; we eat to connect.”- Ms Evelyn

This past week has been a powerful reminder of what it means to have a “village.” From the stage at the Ritz Carlton to the vibrant classrooms at ILTI, success is never a solo trek; it is a mosaic of every teacher, parent and student who dares to invest in a vision.

The Power of the Village: What Winning an Award Taught Me About Success

“I am not a self-made woman. I don’t believe such a thing exists. I am a mosaic: my father’s determination, yes, but also my teachers’ faith, my friends’ steadiness during moments of doubt, and my team’s relentless commitment to excellence.”- Ms Evelyn
