Journey Through English with ILTI: Immerse yourself in London’s rich arts and culture scene

Last week, we visited several historical landmarks and buildings in London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom.

Before we embark on an arts and cultural tour of London this time, let’s first enjoy the breathtaking view of the city from above the London Eye on the South Bank of the River Thames. The eye is an apt description of Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel, which stands at 135km high, as it gives visitors a panoramic view of London up to 25km in all directions.

London is home to a number of museums and galleries with collections that are impressive as they are extensive. A few hours are simply insufficient to appreciate the great number of ancient artefacts and famous works on display, days would be more like it.

The National Gallery on Trafalgar Square is an art museum that houses Great Britain’s national collection of European paintings. Founded in 1824, the gallery has a comprehensive collection of Italian Renaissance paintings, including works by Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, and an impressive holding of works by various British, Dutch, French, Spanish, and Flemish painters from the 15th to the 19th century.

Immerse yourself in two million years of history across six continents at the British Museum. Entry to the world’s oldest national public museum housing an astounding 13 million objects is free – perfect news for history buffs!

At the Museum of London, follow the evolution of London from prehistoric times through the Middle Ages and the Victorian era, up to the present day, through interactive displays.

London is also home to many other notable museums and galleries including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History Museum, Tate Modern, and Tate Britain to name a few.
