Happy International Self-Care Day
Happy International Self-Care Day
As life continues to move at an increasingly rapid pace, it’s easy to neglect our own wellbeing while juggling responsibilities, goals, and everyday tasks. But each year on 24 July, International Self-Care Day offers a gentle reminder to pause, reflect, and give a little time back to ourselves.
The choice of 24/7 (24 July) wasn’t just picked at random. It symbolises the notion that good self-care isn’t a sporadic indulgence or a yearly resolution—it’s something that benefits us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round. Whether it’s maintaining a consistent sleep routine, eating mindfully, moving our bodies, or simply granting ourselves permission to rest, self-care is an ongoing practice that fortifies both body and mind.
At ILTI, where students from all walks of life come to refine their language skills and grow both personally and academically, we’ve seen first-hand how a balanced lifestyle can significantly enhance cognitive performance and emotional resilience. It’s never solely about textbooks and grammar—it’s also about building confidence, setting boundaries, and making space for rest and introspection. We regularly encourage our students to adopt a study approach that is both purposeful and balanced.
Self-care doesn’t have to be grand or complicated. It might mean taking a quiet walk, a digital detox, learning something new at a comfortable pace, or even journalling in another language. The key is being intentional—choosing activities that replenish rather than exhaust.
So, on this 24 July, we invite you to take a moment to pause, reflect, and invest a little time in yourself. Because the best version of you starts with taking care of you.
Happy International Self-Care Day from all of us at ILTI.
