“I live my life by the ‘skeleton principle’. Whatever the problem, I start with the skeleton; the fundamental root of the issue. I will never forget the time when I was ten and we had to complete a massive Cultural Fair exhibition. There was no one to help me at home and having been taught to be fiercely independent, I only had myself to rely on. Instead of worrying and stressing, I started my skeleton… adding the ‘meat’ by reflecting on the project daily. You continue this process until your skeleton becomes a ‘human’. While our students are busy mastering the “Present Simple” and exploring “Worlds Apart,” our Executive Director, Ms Evelyn Chen, reminds us of the “sacred place” Chinese New Year holds in our hearts.
“What many people don’t tell us is that it is okay to put ourselves first. We are often swallowed whole by a corporate world of high-octane stress, relentless workloads and unending meetings. If we aren’t careful, we will remain in this state of perpetual exhaustion until the day we die. Seeing the sheer peace on a colleague’s face after resigning made me realise that ‘walking away’ isn’t an act of giving up or a sign of weakness. Instead, it is perhaps the ultimate act of self-preservation.”- Ms Evelyn
