The choice of 24/7 (24 July) wasn’t just picked at random. It symbolises the notion that good self-care isn’t a sporadic indulgence or a yearly resolution—it’s something that benefits us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round. Whether it’s maintaining a consistent sleep routine, eating mindfully, moving our bodies, or simply granting ourselves permission to rest, self-care is an ongoing practice that fortifies both body and mind.

Meet the Trio That Wreaks Havoc – “Their, They’re, There” 

Ah, English. The language that gave us Shakespeare, sarcasm, and silent letters. But nothing, absolutely nothing, throws people off quite like the trio of “their”, “they’re”, and “there”. These three may sound identical, but let’s not be deceived by their harmonious homophony. They each have their own distinct identity and, dare we say, their own personality. Let’s deconstruct the chaos, shall we?  

  

1. Their – The Possessive One

Meaning: Something belongs to them.  

Example: 

The kids forgot their lunchboxes again. Typical. 

Top Tip: If you can replace it with my, his, or her and it still makes sense, you’re good to go. 

  

2. They’re – The Contraction of Chaos

Meaning: Short for they are.   

Example: 

They’re going to be late, aren’t they? 

Top Tip: Expand it. If “they are” fits, then “they’re” is your go-to.  

  

3. There – The Directionally Dazzling One

Meaning: A place, a position, or a vague pointing at existence.  

Examples: 

• Put your shoes over there, not in the hallway. 

• There’s a spider in the bathtub and it looks very determined.  

Top Tip: If you can point at it, or say “there is/are”, this is your winner.

“Wait, That’s Wrong?” – 5 English Phrases You’ve Been Saying Incorrectly 

Ah, English — that beautifully chaotic language where one misplaced word can make you sound either poetic… or completely perplexing. 

But fret not. Missteps are integral to mastering any language. In fact, those little linguistic hiccups often lead to the most unforgettable “aha!” moments. So here are five common phrases many people get wrong and how to elevate your English with confidence. 

 

1. “I could care less.”

That implies you still care even if it’s just a smidgen. 

✔ Correct: “I couldn’t care less.” 

When you’re absolutely, positively done caring, this is the one to use.

 

2. “For all intensive purposes.”

Unless your purposes are training for a military bootcamp… not quite. 

✔ Correct: “For all intents and purposes.” 

Meaning: in every practical sense.

 

3. “Make due with what you have.”

“Due” as in a deadline? Not the right fit. 

✔ Correct: “Make do with what you have.” 

To manage resourcefully and that’s always commendable.

 

4. “Nip it in the butt.”

A slightly alarming mental image, isn’t it? 

✔ Correct: “Nip it in the bud.”

Let’s face it — Father’s Day often gets overlooked, like the extra chip no one realises is missing until it’s too late. While mums tend to be showered with affection, dads often receive a more understated kind of appreciation — a quick “thanks”, maybe a last-minute gift, and then life goes on.
